Background
The European Music Office launched the Diversidad project in 2008 in the framework of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. This unique European urban experience led to the recording of a single which has been downloaded 25,000 times so far (www.myspace.com/diversidadexperience). In the wake of this great popular success, the European Commission gave its support to a second edition of Diversidad, placing cultural diversity at the core of a three-year, Europe-wide project.
THE EXPERIENCE HAS BEGUN
ICP recording studios, southeast of historic downtown Brussels. In the lounge, journalists from Germany, Sweden and France are inhaling the atmosphere of a unique musical project. Twenty artists from thirteen European countries have been here for a week to record an outstanding hip hop album which will be followed by a festival show tour, a community website and a graphic art exhibition. The Pan-European vibe on this project is beyond impressive, its innovative force effects anybody who gets the honor of being able to spend a couple of hours in the building.
