WHAT IS DIVERSIDAD?
Diversidad is an ambitious three-year European project dedicated to urban cultures, coordinated by the European Music Office with the support of the European Commission – General Direction for Education and Culture.
Diversidad includes a European tour, a digital platform, a documentary, an urban art exhibition, and a collective album gathering twenty rappers, beatmakers and DJ’s. This one of a kind experience is a unique opportunity to bring together the cream of Europe’s urban scene.
The Diversidad program is curated, directed and produced by a team of professionals who have been involved in the entertainment industry and namely the urban culture for many years. Their expertise and savoir-faire bring a real asset to the making of this ambitious project.
The Diversidad album is a real collaborative opus recorded in the ICP studio by 20 artists coming from 12 different countries. It is therefore not just a sampler of European tracks but a 14-track LP created from scratch. It symbolizes the spirit of an artistic collaboration between some of the most emblematic rappers, DJs, and beat-makers in Europe. It will be the soundtrack of the Diversidad cultural program’s other steps : the show, exhibition and movie. The Diversidad album will be out in February 2011 and available across Europe.
The Diversidad album is produced by Curse (DE) and Spike Miller (FR), all scratches by DJ Cut Killer (FR) and features : MC Melodee from La Melodia (The Netherlands), Frenkie (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Curse (Germany), Orelsan (France), Mariama (Germany), Remi and Shot from Elemental (Croatia), Rival (Belgium), GMB (The Netherlands), Marcus Price (Sweden), Valete (Portugal), Luche from Co’ Sang (Italy), Nach (Spain), Pitcho (Belgium), C.H.I (Luxembourg), Big Size & Zock from Cookin Soul (Spain), Eversor (Greece).
The Diversidad exhibition will gather some of the best graphic artists from Europe who will create unique pieces specifically for Diversidad. Graffiti has now won its credibility among the fashion, advertising and even luxury industry and is now influencing all the major contemporary artistic trends.
The Diversidad show will not just be a plain concert, but rather a unique and innovating performance that will be directed by Franck II Louise, a famous French choreographer with extensive expertise in this field (Read his biography). The show will bring on stage the 20 artists of the album and some dancers performing Franck II Louise’s choreography. Presenting the tracks of the Diversidad album, the event will remain faithful to the origins of the urban culture while opening up to new artistic forms. The premier of the Diversidad show will take place at Eurosonic festival in January 2011 while the tour will go across the main European festivals in summer 2011.
